- How do you present yourself in your culture?
- Besides your name, what is self-evident in the way you present yourself today?
- Why is it self-evident?
We had to introduce our selves to another person in the class and tell them what we felt was important in our country, when it came to introduction.
It was different from country to country.
W e did an exercise where we had to tell the other what kind of culture schoks we had had visiting other countires. We then had to lick our experiences with the others and in the end it became a web.
Culture shock is the result of a series of disorienting encounters that occur when an individual’s basic values, beliefs, and patterns of behavior are challenged by a different set of values, beliefs, and behaviors. Although values are typically unacknowledged until challenged, they are the cornerstones of our being and behavior.”
Becoming more openminded is a question of ajusting, but also not giving in on what you believe to be right. You should respect other norms and traditions, but should speak up or express your feelings if you think something isn't right.
The difference is what makes us interresting to each other.
